AFL Signed Surfboard Charity Auction for BlazeAid

The January fires in Victoria were some of the most destructive in history.

  • 400,000 hectares burnt
  • the death of farmer Maxwell Hobson
  • 900 buildings destroyed including 250 homes
  • 15,000 livestock killed

To raise money for those impacted by the fires, Trigger Bros. will produce a custom Australian Football League (AFL) themed surfboard for auction, featuring the signatures of current players. The board will be auctioned with the winning bidder nominating their favourite AFL club, and we will craft the surfboard in that club’s colours and arrange for it to be signed.

Over the last 15 years we have established relations with the AFL to allow us to produce these surfboards and raise money for causes such as Fight NMD, drought relief and the Shoreham CFA to name a few.

Vickery Auction

A Vickery Auction is a sealed bid auction where participants submit bids without knowing the bids of others. The final amount paid by the winner is determined by the second-highest bid. If you've ever bid on an item on eBay then you've participated in a Vickery Auction. See the example below.

How does it work?

  • Participants email through their maximum bid
  • The winning bid is the second highest bid + $1

EXAMPLE:

Peter is currently winning with a bid of $1200
John sends through his maximum bid of $2000
John is now winning with a bid of $1201
Max sends through his maximum bid of $1600
John is now winning with a bid of $1601
Sam send through his bid of $2500
Sam is now winning with a bid of $2001 (John's max bid + $1)

BlazeAid is a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires, cyclones, droughts and floods.

How to place a bid.

Email through your bid before Tuesday March 3rd 12pm Midday (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time)

Timestamps will be taken from when we receive your email in our inbox. Please include your full name with your bid.

As the board is yet to be completed we've got some mockups of a few possible team boards to give you an idea of how the board will look (without the signatures). 

When will you receive the board?

Allow approximately 2 weeks after the bidding closes for us to complete the board and the players to add their signatures.
