Quality

A surfboard’s quality mainly depends on the blank, fibreglass, and resin.

Cheaper boards cut costs by using weaker materials and fewer glass layers, leading to more dings, quicker yellowing, and easier breakage.

The Blank

Traditional surfboard construction uses a polyurethane foam blank that has been selected for it's rocker (curve), wood stringer and dimensions. Lower-quality blanks dent, break, and shrink more easily.

Trigger Brothers use premium Burford Blanks for consistency and strength.

Shapers must choose the correct blank for the final board dimensions to ensure a stronger deck as the less foam removed the harder the blank remains. The foam in the middle of the blank is a lot softer than the outer skin.

Resin

Low-quality resin yellows quickly and becomes brittle.

Silmar surf resins.

We use high-grade Silmar brand SIL66 resins to keep boards strong and looking new for longer. These resins feature low color (almost water clear) and excellent UV-resistance (UV stabilized).

Fibreglass

Type of cloth: We use Bay Mills premium cloth for superior durability.

Number of layers: Fewer layers = weaker board.

Trigger Brothers lay-up:

Bottom: 1 × 6 oz

Deck: 1 × 6 oz + 1 × 4 oz + extra 4 oz deck patch

This results in stronger, longer-lasting boards with better resale value.
